If I were about to be executed by a nefarious inter-dimensional entity, but it gave me the ability to leave behind one message before my demise, the message I would declare would be this: give Parks & Rec another chance, watch Parks & Rec!
Perhaps you only saw an episode or so of the first season. I promise you that from the second season onwards it is brilliant. It is consistently awesome. I would even be willing to declare that Parks & Rec is superior to what The Office was back in its own heyday (seasons 2-4).
I would even say, although I admit this might not make sense, I think I love Community more, but I would be willing to admit that Parks & Rec is a better show. Both of these shows are brilliant, but when it comes to consistent awesome-osity, I think Parks & Rec takes the edge.
I am at this time willing to declare that Parks & Rec is one of the best sitcoms ever. May I die three thousand times if this is false. May I be cast into the core of the sun, may I be hurled into the depths of the sea to be dined on by the most villainous sharks and krakens, may I be decapitated with the dullest of all swords if what I say is false.
I swear by all that is true and pure in the heart of comedy that Parks & Rec is an amazing sitcom, and that you will enjoy it, unless you are the the demon-hearted Dark Karthula foretold by dark wizardry since ages unknown. I do not believe this is so of you.
Park & Rec is, and I say this with the conviction of thirty million Martian Princes, one of the best sitcoms ever produced in the history of television. It is the embodiment of happiness and awesomeness and love and joy and tom-foolery.
(I must also at this time declare that I feel that the best drama of all time is now Breaking Bad. The fourth season confirmed this for me. I might have to say that Breaking Bad is my favorite TV show of all time.)
But anyways, watch Parks & Rec. Seasons 1-3 are on Netflix Instant. Go into the second and third seasons with an open mind and you will not be disappointed, rather you shall be overjoyed with the essence of pure hilarity. I make this recommendation to not only you, but to all human beings who possess hearts and an inclination towards good humor.
